Colossians 3
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
This post is about pure, true faith in the coming of Jesus Christ.
World War I was probably the most frightening period in American history. After the United States entered the war, Americans had more doubts and fears about the future maybe even than World War II and other wars. I ran across this letter from R. A. Torrey to his daughter, Edith. His daughter had written to her father about her profound worries over the war. The link below is Torrey's reply to his daugher. The letter provides his views on the war and Bible passages he found comfort in. He calmly focused on the return of Christ. I wonder whether it was comforting to his daughter. Especially see the second paragraph of the letter.
The letter to his daughter is at http://www.wheaton.edu/bgc/archives/Papers/Torrey/36.htm
