Matthew 22
14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
The pastor preached the theme of knowing and acting upon God's will today, and he exhorted the saints to improve their support to the church and missions. At one point he digressed and lamented the unsaved, referring to the above passage, though just in passing. Here is the rest of the passage.
More From Matthew 22
10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12 and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
For some reason, I keep thinking of that poor sinner in verse 11. Here is the question for the gospel age. Are you wearing your wedding garment? The answer is yes - if you lead a humble life, if all the people around you know you as an up-right Christian, and you support your gospel church.
I stumbled on the following passage on wedding garments.
Isaiah 61
10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation,
11 He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
It was a good day....
