Light Of Nature

Romans 2
14 ....when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and [their] thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Does our knowledge of God come from the light of nature, i.e., reason, or from inspiration?  This was no insignificant issue during the early years of the Baptist faith:

Baptist Confession Of Faith 1689
The Holy Scripture is the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience, although the light of nature, and the works of creation and providence do so far manifest the goodness, wisdom, and power of God, as to leave men inexcusable; yet they are not sufficient to give that knowledge of God and His will which is necessary unto salvation.

Psalm 19
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

It is odd that during any period of Christian history, some ideas or doctrines or issues are more important, and some are less important. And some old important doctrines from Christian history just seem to disappear into the mists of forgotten theology.
