Seven Personal Fundamentals - First Read

John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I used to worry myself about a Calvinist interpretation of the Bible versus an Arminian interpretation of the Bible. And I use to worry myself about a Dispensationalist interpretation of the Bible and a Covenant interpretation of the Bible. So I read through the whole Bible. And here are the seven things that I found inportant:

Three Inportant Truths:

  • Jesus saves.
  • Jesus is coming.
  • Jesus died for your sins.
Two Important Questions:

  • Are you born again?
  • Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?
Living the Christian Life:

  • You must live, day by day, by the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
  • You are here to glorify God.
I'm not worring myself about theological categories....like I use to......

The King James Version

Psalms 12
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified even times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

As much as I might study the the issue of Bible versions, I am finally left with this passage as the last word on the Word. It's about passing the Word down, from generation to generation.

And so, I prefer the King James Version.

Josiah's Reward

2 Chronicles 14
26 And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the LORD, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard;
27 Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.
28 Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.

As I strive for humility before God, may He also have mercy on my soul...and give me peace.

Enemies

Matthew 5
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Old Testament Enemies - they receive God's wrath. New Testament Enemies - Christ says turn the other cheek. In Psalms, the word enemy is used over eighty times. Thinking back on life, a long life, I don't remember having enemies. My great grandfathers had enemies. And so did my great great grandfathers. I don't think my grandfathers had enemies.

For Whom He Did Foreknow

Romans 8
28 And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

For quite a few years, I could not figure out the meaning of election. I did note that sometimes election did not mean personal election of an individual Christian. But election of a country or an economic system, such as western capitalism. I was never comfortable with this. After some study, I became convinced that I, personally, was elected by God...to read the Bible every day, to pray every day and to enjoy the fruits of the Holy Ghost.

Peter Speaks to Cornelius

Acts 10
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him.

This is a good place to start a blog. Life can be, should be so simple. Fear God. And live a righteous life, a humble life, a quiet, simple life. And, seek the favor of God.
